Privacy Policy

Last updated: [DATE]

This policy describes exactly what the SEO AI Chrome extension and its backend service do with data. It is written to match the software's actual behaviour — if you find a discrepancy, please report it and we will fix the software or the policy.

1. What stays on your device

The following never leaves your browser:

These are stored using Chrome's local extension storage. Uninstalling the extension deletes them. You can clear cached pages at any time from the extension's Account screen.

2. What is sent to our server

When you run an analysis, the extension sends:

We use this data to produce your analysis and return it. We do not store it. It exists in memory for the duration of the request and is discarded.

3. Third-party processing

The topic outlines described above are sent to Anthropic (the Claude API) to generate the analysis. Anthropic processes this data as our service provider. See Anthropic's privacy policy.

Our backend runs on Cloudflare Workers. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.

4. What we do store

DataWhyRetention
Installation identifier To count your free analyses and apply your plan Until you uninstall or request deletion
Monthly analysis count To enforce free-tier limits Rolling monthly totals
Email address Only if you subscribe; provided by Stripe at checkout Until you cancel and request deletion
Stripe customer and subscription IDs To know whether your subscription is active Until you cancel and request deletion
A one-way hash of your IP address Abuse prevention and rate limiting only Up to 48 hours, then automatically deleted

We do not store your keywords, your content, competitor content, or your analysis results on our servers.

5. Permissions the extension requests

PermissionWhy it is needed
storage To keep your drafts, settings, saved analyses and cache on your device.
sidePanel To show the extension's interface in Chrome's side panel.
alarms To periodically refresh your plan status in the background.
Access to Google search pages To place the "Analyze Gaps" button on the results page and read the organic results already displayed there. We never send automated queries to Google.
Access to websites (optional) Requested the first time you run an analysis, not at install. Used solely to read the competitor pages you selected, so their topics can be extracted on your device. Requests are sent without cookies.

6. Analytics and tracking

The extension contains no analytics SDK, no advertising code, and no third-party trackers. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share data with anyone beyond the service providers named in section 3.

7. Your rights

You can delete all local data by uninstalling the extension. To delete your server-side account record (installation identifier, usage counts, and billing linkage), email privacy@example.com and we will action it within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or UK, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR; if you are in California, you have rights of access and deletion under the CCPA. We do not sell personal information.

8. Children

This is a business tool and is not directed at anyone under 16.

9. Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and note the change in the extension's release notes.
